For those who would have predicted that Kim's best fashion friend Riccardo Tisci, creative director of Givenchy, to craft the wedding gown for her, there's method (sort of) behind Kim's copycat madness.

"Kim is absolutely obsessed with everything Kate and William do. Kim loves Kate's style and while she is planning on several gowns for her big day, she wants the one for the ceremony to look something like Kate's dress," a source told Grazia magazine.

With Sarah Burton, creative director of McQueen bound by a strict confidentiality agreement to keep her royal wedding dress commission a secret until the day of the ceremony, we wouldn't put it past Kim to pay Burton to keep schtum about a potential Kardashian frock job. Failing that, we're sure the copycat Kate dresses that flooded the market in the spring of 2011 will still be lurking on the market.

We have to say though, Kim's "demure princess" brief, which also includes a tiara, is certainly a welcome change to the relentless Kardashian-West mission to land the reality TV star a Vogue cover.
